Google Checkout™ is a checkout process that you provide on your website to enable your customers to buy from you quickly and securely, using a single username and password. And once they make a purchase, you can use Checkout to charge their credit cards, process their orders, and receive payment in your bank account.
- Attract more leads. Buyers that use Google Checkout actively look to buy from merchants that offer it on their websites. If you use Google search advertising, you can help these potential buyers find you by displaying the Google Checkout badge on your search advertisements.
- Convert more leads into sales. A fast, secure checkout process helps persuade shoppers to buy on your site and buy more often.
- Lower sales processing costs. Process sales for free. You can process all your Checkout sales for free until 2008, and there are no monthly, setup or gateway fees – Checkout is entirely free.
- Protect yourself from fraud. Google Checkout’s fraud prevention tools stop invalid orders from reaching you. And Checkout’s Payment Guarantee policy helps protect you from chargebacks.

Lets imagine that you sell MP3 files and that they are selling like hotcakes, you sold 300 in one day. This is great news but now you have to approve 300 transactions in your purchase logs right… Wrong!!
All you need to do is setup your Paypal account to use IPN. Instant Payment Notification (IPN) is PayPal’s interface for handling real-time purchase confirmation. Once this is configured properly your users will be able to buy digital files and download them from your website as straight away. So here is what you have to do:
- Cick on the e-Commerce tab in your administration site
- Ensure that Paypal IPN in the payments page is set to Yes
Expecting more? If you already have a Premier or Business Paypal account setup then you should be accepting payments by now. If you want help setting up a business or premier account then read our article on Obtaining a Verified PayPal Business Account.
